He believes there is an opportunity in looking closely at the landscape as an environment that we are always in and of. Perhaps in acknowledging this connection and exploring it through art, we can make steps toward a more responsible ecology of place. Noel holds a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and MA in Arts and Ecology from Dartington College of Arts / University College Falmouth. He moved to PLG in December 2010 and is happy to get involved in the neighborhood.

Brian Fernandes-Halloran

Brian grew up outside of Philadelphia and developed a strong interest in the arts and other cultures. At 18 he went for a year to teach at a teacher training college in rural Mozambique and traveled the country painting murals with students. This life changing experience made him a believer in art?s ability bring people together against all odds. Since returning to the US he received a bachelors degree in fine arts from Boston University. He lived in Brazil for 18 months with his wife Adriana where he painted the homeless and studied at Sao Paulo University. Brian moved to Brooklyn 2 years ago and has produced two interactive exhibitions. Both explored social barriers that minimized meaningful relationships. The exhibition Patrons and Artists explored the boundary between an emerging artist and art patrons. This show was on display at the Frontrunner Gallery in downtown Manhattan and contained a performance by the Brian as an artist in captivity. His following interactive exhibition Between Neighbors was much closer to his heart. The works explored his obscured perspective of his neighbors while expressing a longing for intimacy. The exhibition was made into a pop up show on the block that inspired the works. As a response to the introspective paintings, interactive installations invited neighbors to speak up and have a dialog that grew through the span of the show. The incredible response from the local community filled the pieces with an unexpected level of energy and connectivity.

Advisors to the Board

Lucien Terras

Lucien Terras is a French citizen resident in NY since '92 and co-founder/owner of D’Amelio Terras gallery in West Chelsea, representing a group of emerging and mid-career artists.
